There are four groups in the Abbotsford Homeschool Choir:
- Choristers – kindergarten to Grade 4
- Chorale – Grade 5 to Grade 12 (we work with unchanged voices only)
- Chamber Singers – ages 13+
- String ensemble – RCM Grade 1+ and at least one full year of formal lessons
The Choristers have a 45-minute rehearsal each week with the primary focus on learning memorable and truthful repertoire while using proper vocal technique.
The Chorale has a 60-minute rehearsal each week during which they will learn how to blend their voices while singing in unison, 2 and 3 parts.
The Chamber Singers is for our older and more experienced singers. The group rehearses for 30 minutes following the Chorale. Singers have the opportunity to rehearse additional repertoire in a small group setting.
The String Ensemble: This group for young string players focuses on playing together with others and accompanying the choral program. The season end concert will feature the ensemble both in combination with the choir and on their own.
There are two terms per school year from September to December, and January to mid-May.
We rehearse on Monday afternoons, at Calvin Presbyterian Church, 33911 Hazelwood Ave, Abbotsford.
- 1:15 pm to 2:00 pm Intro to Choir (ages 4-6), NEW! Intro to Ukulele with Mrs. Horrocks (ages 7-9)
- 2:00 pm to 2:15 pm Choristers (grades 2-5), NEW! Intro to Ukulele (ages 10+)
- 2:45 pm to 3:45 pm The Chorale (grades 6-12)
- 3:45 pm to 4:15 pm Chamber Singers (age 13+)
- 4:15 pm to 5:00 pm String Ensemble
Cost Per Term
- Choristers: $75 per term
- Chorale: $100 per term
- Chamber Singers: $25 per term (additional)
- String Ensemble: $100 per term
- Intro to Ukulele: $100 per term
